Imagine leading an international team, being responsible for driving growth and integrating commercial, financial, and operational strategies.

As CEO of Scan-Hide (a subsidiary of Danish Crown), you will shape the future of high-end leather production for world-class brands.

Your key focus will be aligning the value chain for a company deeply rooted in the finest Scandinavian craftsmanship – from raw material procurement to leather sales. Leather is increasingly in demand, and you will play a crucial role in shaping this upward trend. 

After a period of uncertain consumer spending, there is now a renewed interest in new styles within both consumers and designers. As a result, high-end leather products for home and fashion are in higher demand. Therefore, Scan-Hide is likely to anticipate years of growth.

In short: You will have a central role in driving Scan-Hide’s success and future growth – a position at the heart of a growing industry. 
 

Your new workplace

Scan-Hide has two locations:

• A Tannery in Vester Skerning on South Funen with approx. 130 employees.
• The sales organization and HQ functions in Randers (co-located with Danish Crown’s HQ) with approx. 20 employees.

The tannery is led by a director of operations, and you can therefore expect your primary workplace to be Randers, but with regular visits to Vester Skerninge.

All in all, there are approx. 130 employees in Scan-Hide. There are currently 9 direct reports top the CEO. Your direct reference will be the CEO of Danish Crown Beef.

You can expect travel days to Europe and Asia, totaling between 30-40 days.
 

Overall value chain responsibility

You will have overall responsibility for the entire value chain, incl. Commercial, Finance, Operations, and Development. 

You will have the following specific responsibilities:

• Ensure a holistic and overall perspective and resource allocation, incl. purchase of raw materials (hides) and coordination of quotation on the commodity / pricing.
• Strategy development and execution.
• Develop the brand SPOOR in the fashion industry in Europe.
• Understand the commodity market for hides while being able to look further ahead in the value chain for finished leather.
• Driving the ESG agenda, including sustainability, animal welfare, protect the land, etc.
• Lead and develop the organization in accordance with strategy, situation, etc.
• Inspire and motivate – set the direction.

 

An experienced leader

You are commercially strong and bring extraordinary leadership results from solid management experience. Production experience is not as important as the qualifications you bring to the position. 

Ideally, you hold an Executive MBA or the like as well as relevant experience from the leather industry.

The following points characterize you as a professional:

• Good international cooperation skills.
• Solid understanding of product calculations.
• Preferably knowledge of the furniture or fashion industry.
• Fluent in English. Italian and German are plusses.
• Substantial experience within stakeholder management of both internal and external stakeholders.

About Scan-Hide

Scan-Hide is the last remaining tannery in Denmark and a global leader in premium quality Scandinavian raw hides and semi-finished products. The company is an integral part of the value chain of slaughterhouses, processing and refining cattle hides from Danish, Swedish, Dutch and German slaughterhouses. 

Cattle hides are a byproduct of the meat industry and are sold to the global premium tanning market. Scan-Hide refines the cattle hides into semi-finished products (wet-blue and wet-white), which are the first steps in the tanning process to produce finished leather.

The company’s primary activities include processing hides and selling them to international tanning companies. Scan-Hide operates skin depilation factories in Vester Skerninge on South Funen, with approximately 120 hourly employees.

Nordic SPOOR is a sales organization under Scan-Hide, primarily focusing on high-end leather for the furniture and fashion industries. Therefore, Nordic SPOOR is a vital component of Scan-Hide’s value chain.
