GMT Robotics – Mechanical Design Manager
Are you an experienced mechanical engineer with a passion for leading teams and driving innovative designs? GMT Robotics is looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Manager to manage the mechanical design team and oversee the mechanical engineering aspects of our cutting-edge product development.
Welcome to GMT Robotics
At GMT Robotics, we are revolutionizing the robotics industry through state-of-the-art technology and innovative designs. As our Mechanical Design Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the mechanical engineering capabilities of the company and delivering world-class robotic solutions.
The company’s goal is not to become a manufacturer of machines for processing reinforcing steel, but rather to concentrate exclusively on robotic solutions for assembling of the cut and bend rebar into 2 and 3 D rebar cages and mesh. The primary goal is to fortify the position as a pioneer in this area. The concepts are ground-breaking, and PCT patents has been granted and received international registration.
Your New Working Day
Reporting directly to our CTO, you will:
- Recruit and build a mechanical engineering team at our HQ while fostering collaboration with the current team abroad.
- Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, including remote teams abroad.
- Secure that mechanical designs for new product development are fulfilling demand, ensuring quality, cost efficiency, simple and robust designs and timely delivery.
- Conduct design reviews, manage engineering changes, and uphold technical standards.
- Actively participate in CAD design and construction tasks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, R&D, production, and stakeholders.
- Develop and implement engineering processes to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
- You are mainly based in HQ in Copenhagen but you will also when necessary be visiting our teams abroad.
- Perform reviews of mechanical designs with our QA department at subcontractors and/or partners sites, when necessary.
- Be willing to travel up 20-30 days a year.
The Team Needs These Competencies
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong technical background in mechanical engineering and proven leadership abilities. It will be a great advantage if you also have a good understanding of the electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic setup in a mechanical construction of a robotic system. The ideal candidate excels at guiding, coaching, and inspiring team members to perform at their best while fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment.
You should possess exceptional organizational and planning skills, coupled with outstanding communication abilities, to effectively coordinate across departments and with external partners. Proficiency in CAD design and a hands-on approach to solving technical challenges are essential, as is a proactive mindset that balances attention to detail with a focus on strategic goals. We expect that you are involved in mechanical designs, especial the 3 D models of a new development to finalize the design with the colleagues in the R&D department until a new concept is fixed.
Additionally, the right candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, enabling them to build and maintain productive relationships both internally and externally, driving innovation and ensuring the success of our projects.
Your Opportunities at GMT Robotics
GMT Robotics’ vision is to be a leader in automated robotic solutions for the assembling of rebar cages in 3 and 2 D , and the strategy is clear: “We don’t just want to follow the development – we want to lead it!”
To achieve this, employees are the key to success, which to a very large extent characterizes the company culture. Therefore, you enter an environment where your ideas are valued and where you can grow both professionally and personally.
There will also be a great deal of freedom to explore your own innovative ideas that can contribute to the company’s projects and ambitions.
